About Us

Raising the Grain (verb): The process where you apply water to the raw wood before the final sanding. This will raise the wood grain and in turn, provide as long lasting smooth finish on the board itself. It usually the final step before applying the finish to the board.

Raised Grain Designs is comprised of two educators from the Lehigh Valley, Brian Scholl and Dylan Peters. They both work full time as educators in a local school district, but in their spare time, enjoy creating and designing wood products from locally sourced timbers and reclaimed wood. Over the past four years, they have created tons of items for family, friends, and for their own homes. After an idea to create a board as a prize for one their colleagues and with an overwhelmingly positive response on many of the items, they decided to start creating and building for others. Thus, Raised Grain Designs was born.

Raised Grain Designs is a woodworking company first and foremost. Creating everything from cutting boards and charcuterie board to pizza peels, flight paddles, and tap handles, they have a little to offer everyone. While the company itself is young, their products speak for themselves in quality.
